Duncan @ Rainbow Bridge

Growing up we always had pets, but I didn’t have one of my own until Duncan. 17 years ago in June of 2000 I returned to Milwaukee after college and moved in with friends and their two cats, one of of whom was about to give birth. On June 16th, 2000 she gave birth to 4 kittens in our apartment, two orange and two grey. My brother took two of the boys (Luci and Orangey) and Duncan became mine. We moved home for a bit during the coming years where he was doted on and loved by my Mom and Grandma like he was one of the grandkids. He was my partner and companion in all the moves along with his 15 year old fursister Bianca.

We moved to Chicago 6 years ago , and added brother Angelo shortly before that move. He was with me through every heartache and every tragedy that  I’ve faced over the years which I am incredibly thankful for. Yesterday, on July 15th 2017, he enjoyed the morning with Bianca, Angelo and I and had breakfast on the balcony with them. Over the past couple months he loved to be outside. Later in the morning he left us to go be with my Mom and Grandma – free of pain, and forever missed.

My boyfriend, Angelo, Bianca and I will miss him terribly, but I know my Mom couldn’t wait to see him and made sure he was welcomed with love, snuggles, and an infinite supply of milk rings that he loved to play with in his younger years. Tomorrow he will be buried in Wisconsin on family property with his brothers Luci and Orangey, under an oak tree and orange flowers.

My heart is broken but will heal, and I will forever be grateful for the 17 years I was chosen to be his mom. ❤ #rainbowbridgeonline #cats #catsofinstagram #love #furkids  #rainbowbridge #mylove #furbaby
