We named this handsome boy Chester. We helped Chester to the Rainbow Bridge because his injuries were just too extensive. His entire knee was destroyed as well as all the tendons around it. His tail was also missing and the area around it was so infected it was inflamed and the vet suspected the infection had spread throughout his body.

On top of that, he only weighed 5 pounds (he was skin and bones) and he was about 7-8 years old. As a feral cat, he would have never been able to fend for himself on the street again without extensive surgery to fix the knee and the vet didn’t think he could even survive surgery because he was in such poor condition. So, we made the most humane decision we could and we let him go. Some people have asked what happened to him, how did he become so injured?

It’s impossible to know for sure, but he could have been hit by a car or cruel people could have harmed him. But, he was a feral boy (spitting, hissing and biting in the vets office) so he probably spent most of his life struggling to survive on the streets. It’s hard enough for them when they are healthy, but when they are as injured as he was, it’s impossible to survive. He was suffering. My heart is broken…💔 I was so hoping we could help him get better, but I am grateful he is no longer in pain and alone on the streets. Thank you @fosterkittensvegas who first noticed Chester struggling in her neighborhood and who fought so hard to get him the help he needed…❤ The final vet costs were a little over $200. I will post the receipt in the gofundme when I get home tonight.

We raised more than the costs so if anyone would like their donation back, just send me a DM and I will refund that to you. Otherwise, we can donate any extra funds to C5 or Nevada SPCA or maybe another kitty who needs help right now in Chester’s name. Any suggestions?

Thank you to everyone for your thoughts, prayers and donations for Chester….Sleep well handsome boy…🌈💔
